Antique Red Sleeping Buddha Statue

This enchanting reclining Buddha statue portrays the Buddha in his last earthly moments when he give his final instructions to his twelve disciples. It is believed that the Buddha knew of his own impending death and asked his disciples to prepare a couch for him in a grove. There he laid down on his right side and faced the west, his head propped in his own hand. After he completes his speech to his followers, he takes a reclined position and passes on into Nirvana.
