Chenrezi is an enlightened essense or Bodhisatwa who has reached Nirvana but chose to remain on the mortal plane of human existence in order to help guide manking on a true path. Chenrezi is the physical embodiment of the six syllable mantra "om ma ni pad me hum." This mantra is popular in Tibet as are statues of Chenrezi. The statues usually depict the Bodhisatwa in elegant garb with four arms, two hands clasped across the chest in prayer, the other two clutching a lotus and a rosary. Chenrezi is the embodiment of live, compassion and kindness. He seeks to destroy ignorance, purify dark emotion and bring happiness and libery from suffering to all beings.
